Germany's national day!

I am here in Germany enjoying their National day trying their sausages, potato salads, sauerkraut and sour cabbage. To be honest I'm not really feeling the sour cabbage, not a big fan but the rest is fine.

I am just admiring kids and families having fun. It's such a blessing experiencing new things and having fun and taking risks because sometimes you just have to come out of that comfort zone of yours and explore.

So just wanted to share with you my experience.

  1. Hey Quasia, I've had a quick scan through some of your recent blog posts about Germany! I've been there in 2014 and hopefully going again this year too - saurkraut is REALLY good with sausages on dense German bread, and your posts are making me excited to go back there again :) Wait a second, I thought saurkraut IS sour cabbage! You should grab a can from Pak'n'Save one day :) Have you heard any good German music that you enjoy? Kind regards, Miss Wells

  2. Hi Quasia, I have been so pleased to see you leading the way over another Summer blogging. I realise you are now in your 7th year as a blogger and the way you are going could have ten years of posts accumulated when you leave school! Good for you. Mrs Burt

  3. Hi Quasia,

It is wonderful to see that you have re-joined the Summer Learning Journey programme this year. I really like the filter that you applied to your picture. It definitely evokes feelings of Germany, the German flag and national holidays. I had to laugh when I read your post and saw that you were not keen on sauerkraut. It is definitely an 'acquired taste.'

Like Miss Wells, I have been lucky enough to travel to Germany and eat sauerkraut on sausages. It really is good, I completely agree! You should 'give it a go' one day, if you're feeling brave! In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the summer holiday. We hope that you'll continue blogging with us as well :)

We are thrilled that you and Robin are leading the way for your peers at Tamaki College this summer.

    Keep up the great work!

    Rachel :)

  5. Hi Quasia,

I'm glad to hear you're having such a fun time in Germany on their National Day. I've had sauerkraut before too, and I kind of agree.. on it's own it's a very peculiar taste, but it goes very well with some of their rich foods like sausages!

I think it's really important to experience different cultures. Often these experiences are far removed from our comfort zones like you mentioned, but if we are able to relax and enjoy the experience for what it is then more often than not those turn out to be the best possible experiences that we remember for a long time! I'm really impressed with your attitude to being a part of a culture different to your own, well done.

What do you think you would like to do next in Germany while you're there? I like that you included a photo to show how you're feeling during your trip, it looks like you're having fun :-)

Well done on another great blog Quasia. I want to back up what Rachel said, you are really leading the way for the others at Tamaki College!

Tēnā rawa atu koe (thank you very much),

    Dan.

  7. Hi Quasia,

I just wanted to pop back on just one last time to say thank you for participating in the Summer Learning Journey. You should be proud of your efforts on here, and I think you are beginning to understand that learning doesn't just happen in the classroom. If you want to be successful, it is up to you to take control and do your best to learn whenever you can, and practice the skills you have learned at school whenever you can. Whether that is reading a book, writing a story, or doing a maths puzzle or drawing a picture at home.

Keep up the great work and I wish you all the best for this coming year at school.

    Kia kaha,
