You have a purpose in this world so live to fulfill it.

“Who you are.” Ever questioned yourself asking who you are in front of the mirror or anywhere? Well I’ve been listening to this song by Jessie J called “Who you are.” I like this song and the reason why I like this song is because of the….

….messages, moral and it’s effect that it can have on someone. The lyrics are very powerful. The song starts off with I stare at my reflection in the mirror. Why am I doing this to myself? Losing my mind on a tiny error, I nearly left the real me on the shelf. Words are very powerful, especially in a song. Not many people listen to the lyrics when listening to a song but when I first heard this song it was irresistible.

The title of the song is called Who you are. Some people go through heaps of battle and trials because they mainly don’t know who they are. When people hit rock bottom they question themselves saying that they don’t know who they've become and who they are.

Changes can be a good thing and a bad thing. But, you are the person who chooses if it’s good or bad. The effect you put on yourself can also affect others. They way you value and treat you as well.  The song then goes into the chorus saying Don't lose who you are in the blur of the stars!
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing, It's okay not to be okay. Sometimes it's hard to follow your heart. Let’s stop it here for a while. Let’s take another look at the second sentence of the chorus saying “Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing.” It speaks for itself. Seeing is deceiving! But dreaming is believing!

This is what people should keep in mind. Now onto the third sentence, it says “It’s okay not to be okay.” Well, it’s true, very true. You don’t always have to show people that you are doing well, that you don’t go through struggles because everyone does. Everyone goes through problems in life because we are humans. That’s just life.

What I’m going to do next is just skip through some lines to my favorite line of all in the song which says “Brushing my hair-do I look perfect?” Yes. This is the line. It may be simple but it’s what people mainly say to themselves. This line can even cause someone to take their life meaning some people don’t think that there enough, they don’t their perfect enough and etc…..

Life can be hard at times but I believe that the reason you live is because you have a purpose, a purpose to fulfill in this world. You are made the way you are for a reason and the reason is because you are yourself! Your individual self. You are born to be unique and different. You can make a change in the world or you can change the world. Everything starts within yourself. You should keep that in mind.

So to end it off I would just like to say that if you are going through hard times why not take a listen to the song (Who you are - Jessie J). Know that you are beautiful, unique and powerful! You can change the world if you believe in yourself and it’s okay not to be okay! Don’t forget, seeing is deceiving but dreaming is believing.

You have a purpose in this world, so live to fulfill it.

  1. Quasia, this is inspirational. I adore this post. You have picked up on a key message many people struggle with throughout their lives, that we AREN'T perfect and it IS OKAY to feel sad. I like how you have expressed your emotions and thoughts through the song lyrics, because you are right - many people don't take in the lyrics, only the melody. What a lovely post, which was so captivating. I can't wait to see what you do with your life and what you find to be your purpose in this world :) Miss D

  2. Quasia I have just had a chance to look at some blogs and this post sticks out to me for a few reasons. 1 you are putting your response out there. It made me think of the impact that people can have with a song. A lot of songs are about being perfect having glamour and all that goes with it. Keep listening keep blogging.

    1. Thank you very much for taking time to read and respond on my post.

  3. Hi Quasia, I was just randomly checking blogs of our year 10 students and stumbled on your one here - this is one of my fav songs because it is so powerful in that allows people just to be themselves as you have so wonderfully described. Thank you for this very thoughtful post:)
