Recount - Grandpa Coming over.

Waking up with excitement I knew today was the day! My Grandpa is coming from Australia. He is only staying here for about a week or two. Suddenly goosebumps started to appear slowly down my arms..
I jumped out of bed and quickly got ready as my family and I were making our way over to my aunt’s house.
Once we arrived there I quickly got out of the car to spread the word to my cousin’s. After a while I heard he is arriving tonight.
I was then filled with disappointment knowing it’s going to be hours and hours until he comes. It was finally time, so my aunty and uncle went to the Auckland Airport to collect him..

Watching T.V. to keep me awake I smelled something..... it was my Grandpa’s favorite all time gel. Then I knew he was here. I quickly ran out like the wind and once I was out I saw him still coming out so there was my chance. I then wrapped my arms around him. It’s been about 1-2 years since I have seen him. I saw he had a big bag in his left hand. I thought “Yes we got presents”. After he was seated down he open his bags and I noticed he has a gift. It wasn’t for me,my sisters or my cousins. But for my Dad. My dad got brand new shoes (Sneakers the colour Black and white) and also a LG touch screen mobile phone.... (“With a front camera!”) My dad was so lucky.

Having my Grandpa back here in New Zealand with his family was the best thing. I made the best of my ability to spend every time with him before he went back.

Article - Letter from the Bully!

Living a life experiencing bullying became an everyday routine to person named Chad Michael Morissette. Back in the day when he attended Junior High, he became a victim of bullying. About 5-7 boys from the school football team would torment him each day for the the whole school year.

He says the reasons why this took action was because he has same gender love relationship and also because he was small and bullied for all possible reasons. Now at the age of 34 he has moved on from that horrible nightmare.

Having been bullied in the past really affected his life in a way that he had all this but not just him but also one of the bullies. 20 years after from being a part of bullying he had stopped thinking about it.
Scrolling through facebook one day a notification popped up. He received a message, it said something like this......

Hey Chad,
I was recently talking with my 10 year old daughter about bullies. She asked me if I ever bullied anyone and sadly I had to say yes. What came to mind was how mean I was to you when we were in Jr. High. I want to apologise. If we lived in the same state I would apologise face to face. I don’t know if you remember, but I do and i’m sorry.
- Bully

Chad found the message touching and moving. It brought up a subject he has thought of in quit a long time. He accepted the apology saying something like this...

Thank you for your apology. I was quite moved by it, it even brang tears to my eyes knowing that you really don’t want to be part in the bullying scene anymore. Back when we were in Junior High out of all the other 5-7 boys you are the only one who apologised. It’s amazing what 20 years and children can do to us, no? I hope you can be an amazing role model to your daughter and when you see bullying you stand up to it. Have a great!
- Chad.

It goes to show that it is never too late to ask for forgiveness.

Time with Friends

! F R I E N D S !

When the clock struck 11.30am the whole senior block rushed there way quickly back to the street. Once we arrived there everyone was up on their feet ready for an adventure. We were going to do the amazing race@I could see the excitement in some people’s eyes. Others, well they had a mixture of emotions for e.g: nervousness.

As soon as we finished changing, we were back in class ready to know what groups we will be in. When I found out what group I was in I was more than just happy I was energised. I got put together with my best friend Lizara and also my fellow peers Jalen and Damien.

Our first station was the Photo Booth where we had to dress up as funky as we wanted and then pose in front of the camera with specific poses.  The moral of that station for me was to be as creative you can be with whatever we had around us.... and also to test and exercise our posing skills.

The time I had with my group at the Photo Booth Station was amazing. Not only did we work fine together but we got to know each other more better.

In each stations we went to there was a time maximum and that time was only ten minutes. And because we only had ten minutes we had to rush to our stations because not only do we get points for the work we did but we also get arrival points.

Well, my group we all wanted to win because losing for us was not a good feeling. The feeling of losing is like... well for me it is indescribable. But no one likes losing. And because of these thoughts this is what motivated us to work better together.

Next we came to the Face Cookie station. My first impression of this station just by appearance was that we had to see who could eat the most cookies. But no! I was wrong. We had been given a cookie and when we were already we had to place the cookie on the top of our forehead. The aim of this game was to try and make the cookie got into your mouth without making it drop or using any body parts apart from your face.

I am not going to lie it was hard, so hard that I didn’t even get it once in my mouth. I got so frustrated that I wanted to give up. But if I gave up then I would have let my team down knowing that I could and can do better.

That experience was fun. It was fun because we played games and because I worked with my friends. Our relationship between each other grew stronger and I am happy that I got to share that experience with them.

What is poetry?

For me Poetry is a world when things you say or write can really touch someone in a way that makes them understand what you are trying to say or share.

It’s sort of like a sharing world, yeah you can put it that way, (A Sharing World). When you can share your thoughts and dreams and make them into a journey for others to join or a story to inspire

Poems can be about feelings or about events or more. For me when I think about the main subject that people usually write about is mostly about love.
-    -    -    -    -    -    -    -
Here is a poem I found and think is a really cool one to read.

Comment below to tell me what you think the main subject people write their poems about. And also if you are a poet, share with me some of your poems I would really like to read it.
If you want to find out what the definition to the word Poetry is just click on the word Poetry highlighted in blue. Have fun!

Term 2's Highlight & Lowlight!

One of my highlights from term 2 has been sports! Sports like Netball, Rugby, Rugby 7's and Basketball. Sports is something I am passionate and love to do. It is something that I have been doing before I even started school. I am really confident I can take what I have learnt here at school and put them in action in the future. And you never know it might take me along a journey where my name may become a big name in the history of sports.

My second highlight is my learning. My learning especially in math. Math is something that other people think is boring or dumb. But for me it is helpful and fun. I feel like I have improve a lot and also learn a lot. I like maths and you all should too.

My third and last highlight is creating projects for this term's topic, (Tinkering Tools & Toys). What we had to do was to create something that would help or improve the school or something us years 8's will leave behind. My group decide to do something that we year 8's will leave behind. So we went along the journey creating a mosaic of year 8's and formed it into the school logo. It was definitely my highlight.

Unfortunately I have a lowlight. My lowlight is fitness. I feel like I didn't put my all in our school fitness runs. It is something I want to improve more next term. This may be my lowlight but is also now my goal.

Writing (Adding Detail).

Rimu heard a voice saying Rimu. He heard something tap on the window. Rimu rolled over. He still felt sleepy. He couldn’t figure out why he could hear his name. He didn’t think it could be hail because it was the middle of summer.
He sat up, and looked. It was early morning. He could just make out a shadow, which leant forward and rapped again, louder this time.
“Rimu! You deadhead. Wake up!”
Rimu groaned. Ollie! He would have preferred hail.

Changed in This Below!

As Rimu was sleeping in bed, suddenly a voice started saying “Rimu, Rimu.” Something on the window started taping. Then Rimu rolled out of bed. His is strength was very weak because he still felt sleepy. He couldn’t figure out why he his ears are listening to his name being called in the middle of his sleep. Doubts started appearing in his mind and thinking it could be hail but, why would it because it was the middle of summer.

His eyes open and looked out the window, it was early in the morning. He could just make out a shadow, which leant forward and rapped again, but louder this time.
“Rimu! You deadhead. Wake up!”
He groaned, Ollie!  Rimu would have preferred hail instead.

Holiday Writing.

In the holidays I had an amazing adventure going different places meeting a dance crew and also going rock climbing for the very first time. I had these adventures at the Auckland Dunkirk Holiday Program.

Our first trip was going to meet Identity Dance Crew. Once we got there we were put into age groups and put in to certain rooms to learn some hip hop dance moves.

It was amazing learning moves from especially from an amazing dance crew. Our next trip was to Climb Zone Rock Climbing. We got instructed by on of the Staff their. Then we were told that we had to be stripped on to our harnesses then of we went climbing.

I manged to complete about 6 touching the top well some I made it half way and well the left overs I didn't have enough time to go on all of it. On one I got stuck all the way up top. I was scared of heights that's why. It looked easy but it was really hard. I had doubts in my mind.

But I finally came down. Then After we had lunch and off went back to the centre then after we went home.

A.F.L Effective Writing.

On a normal not perfect Wednesday when the clock struck 9.40 am off we went walking to the hall getting ready for A.F.L. A.F.L. means (Aussie Football League). Each week we learn at least 2 or more skills in our A.F.L. section.

Walking in, the footballs that were laying on the ground caught my attention. I knew we were going to have fun and some people would eventually get sweaty, and when I say sweaty I mean really sweaty just like they have just finished having a shower. And that was meaning boys.

The skills we have learned was,

1. Speckie

2. Handball

3. The Bounce

4. Ruck

5. Chest Mark

6. Hand Mark.

After we played a game. We had to be splited up  into two groups called Rats and Rabbits. Then it got splited  again into now on four sides. They were still Rats and Rabbits. On one side Rabbits started with two footballs and on the other side Rats  started with the ball. With had to work as a team to eliminate the other team. We had to use the skill Handball. Unfortunately Rabbits lost by 1 under and Rats won!! A.F.L. has been so fun this term. We still have one more section to go but it will be amazing. :)

My Term 2 Writing Sample :)

START WRITING HERE

As the wind was howling and rain drops we falling the clock struck 4.15 pm and off the Pt England Panthers went to start their game. My sister Glennes was playing in the first half as W.D (Wing Defence). Well my cousin Sheena was sub on the first half just encouraging her team mates and watching and waiting for her time to come.

The siren rang and the game has started. Their appointed started with the ball. When the whistle was blown everyone started coming forward and shouting “ Here, Here Me, Me!” Well me and my other sister Marilyn was just eating hot chips and watching. .

The appointed finish the first half with 5 to nil. The Panthers coach said to them like this ‘’ You girls need to spread out and get some goal in OKAY.” The siren went on again but this time my cousin Sheena went on now well my sister Glennes was having a break. Sheen went on play G.A (Goal Attack).

The umpire blew the whistle but this time the Panthers started the game having the ball first. Panthers went up to the centre and started calling for the ball. The Pt England centre quickly passed it to the free person which was Sheena (Goal Attack). The Sheena passed it to WA and the off it went to GS and back to Sheena. Sheena shoot'd and it went in. Now on the point paper it was 5 to 1.. 4 minutes passed and Sheen scored another 5 shots. The along came another 4 from Sheena again. The Panthers were really going hard and making a lot of improvement in the second half. 2 more minutes were left and the panthers were going for another goal but unfortunately the other team stole the ball and had the last goal of the game.

The finishing siren went on and the Panthers lost by 1 point. The score of the game was 10 to 9. It was a strong comeback in the second half from the Panthers. The Panther tried their best! :)
